In July, 2018, we were invited for a goat eating hang out by one of our senior friends Mr. George Kareithi in his farm in Gatundu. AYLF members enjoyed spending time with wise elders, having conversations on on diverse topics among them being the Kenyan history and the current state of the nation. It was a privilege to sit at their feet, listen as they challenged us (YOUTH) to be the voice of change and live a dignified life for the sake of the future generation.
At the heart of AYLF is the dream that African leaders will know how to reconcile relationships, speak the truth without being religious or divisive, see people without labels or stereotypes - loving each other and those they lead – while serving with integrity.
We engage with the student leadership in the following ways:
On 26 th August 2018, we visited Kajiado’s Deputy Governor Hon. Martine Moshisho in his residence in Kajiado. He was introduced to AYLF while in University serving as the Charperson of MKU students Association. Since then, we’ve walked with him in a mentorship capacity to where he is now. To celebrate his victory, we organized a homecoming in his place which was attended by some of his friends who have been nurtured in AYLF, among them being the Speaker of Nyeri County Assembly Hon. John Kaguchia and MCA Abogeta West Hon. Dennis Kiogora.
