Transforming Governance with Ajibika: “Bado ni mtu wetu?”
In our country, we say ni “Mtu wetu” (our person) or “Ni wa area moja (they are from our area), as we elect our leaders . Little do we realize that the same person may betray us once in power. We choose leaders from humble backgrounds, thinking they will understand our struggles, but again, they disappoint us. We elect people who are swayed by money, and when they have a seat at the table, they fail to put the interests of the people first.
The Ajibika Program provides an opportunity for the youth, to understand government processes and how our government functions. This knowledge empowers us to demand accountability from our leaders and ensures that leadership is based on merit. The program also equips youth with the tools to educate the public, encouraging informed decision-making during elections.
The future of governance depends on the voices of the youth. By engaging in government planning, advocating for transparency, and ensuring inclusive decision-making processes, we are building a better and brighter future for our country.
